Spanish leading sopran Guadalupe Sánchez was born in Madrid where she studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music with the mezzo María Luisa Castellanos in the Cátedra of Pedro Lavirgen.
She takes courses of vocal technique and interpretation with Victoria de los Angeles, Angeles Gulín, Francisco Ortiz, M.Dolores Travesedo and Manuel Valencia.
Her first performance at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid was at the premiere of a Moreno Torroba´s show called NEARLY A CENTURY OF ZARZUELA. In this same season she played the role of Casilda of The Villain.
Her operatic debut took place with the opera L 'Elisir D'Amore also in the Teatro de la Zarzuela, alongside Jose Carreras and in Suor Angelica, followed by TOSCA at the Teatro Campoamor of Oviedo, with Pedro Lavirgen. In this scenario Mrs Sánchez represented zarzuelas likewise LA REVOLTOSA and LA VERBENA DE LA PALOMA. In 1990 in a new production of The bunch of roses, she shared the stage with Carlos Alvarez.
In 1987, representing Spain, she won one of the first prizes in the World Festival Awards of Cardiff (Wales) hosted by the BBC and broadcast in both countries.
Guadalupe Sanchez has performed with Plácido Domingo on many occasions, such as the spectacle Antología de la Zarzuela in Oceania, China and Europe, returning to sing with the tenor in a concert in Madrid's Casa de Campo and San Isidro concerts at Auditorio Nacional Madrid. In 1991 participates in the first GALA DE REYES, also with Plácido Domingo, in the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, concerts, to which was broadcast live on TVE. In later years she took part in various concerts, invited by Mr.Domingo as: PRESENTATION OF EXPO-92 in Seville, Palau de la Música de Valencia, BID JACA-98 in Zaragoza, UNIVERSITY OF MUSIC CONCERT Madrid, Tokyo GALAS ( some romances accompanied on piano by the mentioned tenor, etc.).
As a member of several zarzuela and opera companies has performed in Europe, USA and South America, in addition to offering concerts in Paris, Wiesbaden, Lisbon, Porto or Naples. She appeared regularly in the zarzuela season of several Spanish cities like Cordoba, Canary and collaborations with Radio COPE in various tours.
Premiered "SIX SONGS SPANISH" by F. Cano with the Spanish Chamber Orchestra at the National Auditorium in Madrid. She is the first interpreter serving in the Altar of the Great Mosque of Cordoba in the Easter concert. She performs with Jaime Aragall the special concert on the occasion of the Presidency of Spain in the European Economic Community, held in the Campo de las Naciones in Madrid, broadcasted by TVE throughout Europe. Represents the city of Madrid, invited by the City Council of this city, in a special concert held in Los Angeles (California).
She starred various operas in Madrid, Cordoba, Leon, and Alicante, as Il Trovatore, next to Vicente Sardinero, Tosca, and Cavalleria Rusticana.
In 2006 participates in special concerts to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, next to great figures of Spanish poetry.
Her versatility as a soprano and actress lets Mrs Sanchez to address a large repertoire of zarzuela, including: EL ASOMBRO DE DAMASCO, EL CASERÍO, LOS CLAVELES, LA CORTE DE FARAÓN, LA DOLOROSA, LOS GAVILANES, GIGANTES Y CABEZUDOS, EL HUÉSPED DEL SEVILLANO, LA DEL SOTO DEL PARRAL, LA LEYENDA DEL BESO, LUISA FERNANDA, LA PARRANDA, LA PATRIA CHICA, LA PÍCARA MOLINERA, LA ROSA DEL AZAFRÁN, EL ÚLTIMO ROMÁNTICO, LA GRAN VÍA, AGUA, AZUCARILLOS Y AGUARDIENTE, DON MANOLITO, EL PUÑAO DE ROSAS, LA CALESERA, EL BARBERILLO DE LAVAPIÉS, EL BARBERO DE SEVILLA, LA BRUJA, BLACK EL PAYASO... .. etc., apart from those already mentioned. Mrs Sanchez is acclaimed in some of them as the best performer of today.
In the year 2008 plays a concert of Zarzuela in Antalya (Turkey) with great success since it was the first time he reported the genus.
In the year 2009 is presented in Izmir (Turkey) with the role of "Salu" from La vida breve by Falla, who is represented for the first time in this country, with great critical and commercial success.
